What we collect when you use this site or write to us, why, and the choices you have.
Who we are
[company name] runs this website and the Brightshoal service. We decide how the personal data described here is used, so we are its controller.

What we collect
When you request a demo or write to us. Your name and work email, and what else you choose to tell us: your company, website, where your leads arrive, roughly how many enquiries you get, and your message. The demo form sends nothing itself: it opens your email app with your request written out, and you send it to us.
If you accept analytics cookies. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity record how you use the site: the pages you visit, the page you came from, clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, your device and browser, and your approximate location from your IP address. Clarity can replay a visit as a recording. What you type in the demo form is hidden from Clarity. If you reject them, or do not choose, neither tool loads.
When any page loads. Our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser details and the pages you request, as every website host does, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
What we do not do. We use no advertising cookies, we do not sell or rent personal data, and we make no automated decisions about you.
Why we use it
Where data protection law asks us to name a legal basis, these are ours:
- To reply, arrange the demo and follow up on your request: the steps you ask for before a possible contract, and our legitimate interest in answering enquiries about our service.
- For analytics: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To run and secure the site: our legitimate interest in a website that works and is safe.
- To meet legal duties: when the law requires it.
Where it is processed
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
- Your requests and emails: as long as we need them to reply and follow up. If you become a customer, for as long as we work together, and after that for as long as the law requires.
- Google Analytics: data tied to a visitor or device, 14 months. Reports keep only totals.
- Microsoft Clarity: recordings for 30 days, except recordings we mark for review and a random sample Microsoft keeps, which are kept for up to 9 months, as are heatmaps and click data.
- Your cookie choice: in your browser, for 12 months.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what data we hold about you, and give you a copy
- correct it
- delete it
- limit how we use it, or object to our using it
- send it to you or another company in a common format
Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time: for analytics, in Cookie settings at the foot of every page. Write to hello@brightshoal.si and we will reply within one month. You can also complain to your data protection authority, such as your national authority in the EU or the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK.
Conversations we handle for businesses
Businesses use Brightshoal to answer enquiries on their own website, phone line and WhatsApp, and our team runs outbound campaigns with them. The data in those conversations and campaigns is handled under our agreement with each business, and that business's own privacy notice explains how it uses it.
If you spoke with one of our agents for a business, or were contacted in a campaign we run for one, you can ask that business about your data, or write to hello@brightshoal.si and we will help or pass your request on.
Children
This site is for businesses and is not meant for children. We do not knowingly collect children's data.
Changes
When we change this policy, we update this page and its date. The cookies we use are listed in our cookie policy.
